Rail Industry Connected | Improving Frontline Welfare with Sarah Butcher, Welfare Hire Nationwide

Welfare on the frontline has long been an undiscussed topic in rail. As the infrastructure changes and responsibilities become fragmented, there has been many organisations highlighting a reduction in the provision of facilities for staff.

Alongside this, surveys by RSSB have found as much as 40% of rail workers are suffering from a mental health condition – and only half of those sought help. Some of those cited social exclusion and/or burnout as a contributory factor. While working in such a safety critical environment, the need for welfare support is significant.

We speak to Sarah Butcher of Welfare Hire Nationwide. Welfare Hire, part of Kelling Group, is a hirer of mobile ECO Welfare products to growing, long-term Infrastructure and associated end markets, throughout England, Scotland and Wales – focusing on quality, service, environment, wellbeing and value.

By delivering products that greatly enhance how welfare is handled on the frontline, Welfare Hire is focused on providing a service that not only boosts welfare on the frontline, but provides sustainability with these units in a cost-effective manner.
