Manchester-Born Fiona Roberts Appointed TPE Finance Director

TransPennine Express (TPE) has announced the appointment of Fiona Roberts as its new finance director. Originally from Boothstown, Manchester, Roberts brings a wealth of experience in finance and a background in the rail industry.

Roberts previously spent six years at Network Rail, where she served as a financial controller for three years. This experience gave her valuable insight into the operational and financial challenges of the rail sector. Most recently, she successfully led a multi-year project at TalkTalk Group, where she focused on improving processes, upgrading systems, and strengthening financial reporting.

Speaking about her new role, Fiona Roberts said: “I’m really looking forward to working with the team at TPE, who are forward-thinking and ambitious, and where customer satisfaction is at the heart of everything they do.”

She also reflected on the wider rail industry, adding: “At this point in time, what excites me the most is the chance to work with TPE and industry leaders to shape the future of the railway and Great British Railways (GBR), while continuing to improve services for customers. It’s an exciting time to be part of the business and contribute to its growth.”

Her appointment is seen as a key step for TPE as the company looks to improve services and navigate the ongoing changes within the UK rail network.
