Alstom has appointed Cathy Pianon as its new Chief Communications Officer, strengthening its executive leadership team as the rolling stock manufacturer continues to deliver its global growth strategy.
Pianon will take up the role on 1 October 2026, reporting directly to Chief Executive Officer Martin Sion. She will lead Alstom’s global communications function, overseeing corporate, media, internal and digital communications, alongside responsibility for brand, events and corporate reputation.
Experienced communications leader joins Alstom
Pianon joins Alstom from Groupe SEB, where she serves as Senior Executive Vice-President for Public Affairs and Communication and Chief of Staff to the Chairman.
Her previous experience includes senior leadership positions at Euro Disney, where she was Vice-President for Public Affairs, Communication and Corporate Social Responsibility, as well as communications and corporate affairs roles at Vivendi, Vinci and Bureau Veritas.
Throughout her career she has specialised in corporate communications, financial communications, crisis management and supporting organisations through major transformation programmes.
Martin Sion, Chief Executive Officer of Alstom, said: “Cathy brings extensive international experience, strong strategic judgement and a deep understanding of stakeholder engagement. Her track record in listed companies, combined with her experience supporting industrial businesses through transformation and complex operating environments, will be a valuable asset for Alstom. I am delighted to welcome her to the Group.”
Supporting Alstom’s strategic ambitions
Operating in more than 60 countries, Alstom said the appointment reflects the growing importance of communications in supporting its strategic priorities, strengthening stakeholder engagement and promoting the company’s leadership in sustainable mobility.
The manufacturer said its communications function plays a key role in engaging employees, building confidence among customers and investors, and showcasing innovation across its global operations.
Pianon said: “Alstom combines global scale, technological expertise and a unique contribution to sustainable mobility. As a global leader, the Group has a remarkable story to tell through its people, its innovation and the solutions it delivers every day around the world. I look forward to working with teams across the business to help bring that story to life for our employees, customers and stakeholders.”
A French and Swiss citizen, Pianon has lived and worked internationally, including in the United States and Italy. She is a graduate of IPAG Business School and ENA CHEE, and has also completed a strategy programme at INSEAD.
Her appointment comes as Alstom continues to position itself at the forefront of global sustainable mobility, with communications expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting the company’s transformation, stakeholder engagement and long-term growth ambitions.
