Caledonian Sleeper announces new interim Managing Director

The Caledonian Sleeper, the iconic overnight train service connecting London with Scotland, has today announced the appointment of Graham Kelly as its new interim Managing Director.

Mr Kelly, who currently holds the position of Commercial and Procurement Director within the company, will step into the role on Friday, April 18th.

He succeeds Kathryn Darbandi, who announced earlier this year her intention to move towards semi-retirement after serving more than four years as Managing Director.

Joining the Caledonian Sleeper team in January 2015, Mr Kelly brings a wealth of experience in guest function experience and the delivery of high-quality on-board services to the role.

Prior to his latest appointment, Mr Kelly served as the company’s Guest Experience Director for five years. He then broadened his skillset by transitioning to the role of Commercial and Procurement Director, a position he has held for almost two years.

Before his tenure with Caledonian Sleeper, Mr Kelly enjoyed a successful career in the hospitality and events sector. This included working for various hotels on the picturesque Loch Lomond and subsequently managing a highly successful hotel accommodation programme for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Speaking about his new role, Graham Kelly said: “Having been a member of the Caledonian Sleeper team for more than a decade, it is an honour to be stepping into the role of interim Managing Director. I’d like to thank Kathryn for her service to the company and for all she has helped us achieve over the past four years – the team and I wish her all the best.”

The Caledonian Sleeper provides a unique overnight travel experience, connecting the capital with over 40 destinations across the UK, encompassing Scotland’s charming towns, vibrant cities, and the stunning Highlands. This appointment signals a period of transition for the beloved service as it continues to connect passengers across the nations.
