GB Railfreight (GBRf) and Maritime Transport have signed a new multi-year agreement to transport freight across the UK, extending a long-standing partnership between the two companies.
The contract will see goods moved by rail from major deep-sea ports, including London Gateway, Felixstowe and Tilbury, to Maritime’s network of inland terminals.
The deal builds on a relationship spanning more than 20 years, during which new intermodal services have been introduced to connect ports with key logistics hubs across the country.
Under the agreement, freight will continue to be shifted from road to rail for longer-distance journeys, reducing the number of lorry movements on UK roads. The companies said this approach will help cut emissions, ease congestion and support more efficient supply chains.
Julie Garn, Intermodal Director at GB Railfreight, said the contract reflects the strength of the partnership.

The partnership forms part of a broader shift towards integrated logistics models, combining rail and road to improve efficiency while reducing environmental impact.
