Train operator Greater Anglia has announced the 18 successful contractors appointed to its new £174 million civils and building works framework. The four-lot framework will streamline the delivery of station, depot, Mechanical & Electrical (M&E), and painting upgrades across the East Anglia rail network.
The framework, managed by Transport UK East Anglia, was highly competitive, attracting up to 21 bidders for individual lots. The selection process ensures Greater Anglia bolsters its supply-chain capacity ahead of a major new round of renewals and station improvements.
Four Lots Cover Comprehensive Network Upgrades
The framework has been divided into four specific lots, covering both lineside and non-lineside assets, with contracts offering an option to extend the framework by up to three years in one-year blocks. Successful firms include major players such as C Spencer, Amalgamated Construction, Capel (C.S), and Walker Construction (UK), alongside a strong cohort of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Lot 2, covering Stations & Non-Lineside Infrastructure, represents the largest single investment with a value of £106 million, reflecting a clear focus on passenger-facing facilities and station enhancements.
The use of this restricted procedure framework allows Greater Anglia to run flexible call-off contracts of any value, ensuring a streamlined and efficient process for deploying critical upgrade works over the coming years.
