InnoRail Appoints Andy Watson as New Managing Director to Drive Growth and Innovation

InnoRail, a UK-based specialist rail operations and strategy consultancy, has officially appointed Andy Watson as its new Managing Director. The leadership change signals ambitious plans for growth and innovation across the UK and European rail sectors, as the company continues to expand its work in freight, passenger, and open access rail.

Mr. Watson joins InnoRail at a time of “real momentum,” bringing extensive experience in the transport and infrastructure sectors. The consultancy has seen rising demand for its practical, client-focused solutions, which range from operational support and digital readiness to enabling innovation in a rapidly changing rail landscape.

A Straight-Talking, Delivery-First Ethos

Mr. Watson’s decision to join InnoRail was heavily influenced by the company’s pragmatic culture and ethos, which he believes is crucial for solving the rail industry’s most complex challenges.

Commenting on the appointment, Andy said: “It’s been an incredible journey so far, and I’m proud to be leading such a capable and passionate team. InnoRail is built on strong foundations, and together we’re focused on tackling the most complex challenges facing the rail industry today, with fresh thinking, energy, and the confidence to do things differently.”

He praised the company’s core values, stating: “What I love about InnoRail is how it mixes hard-won expertise with straight-talking pragmatism. The people here are open, honest and allergic to corporate waffle. They focus on what actually works, no fluff, no drama, just proper solutions that stick. It’s this ‘get stuff done’ DNA that helps clients today while building value for tomorrow.”

Expanding Global Footprint

For the past five years, InnoRail has delivered major projects across the UK, Ireland, the Middle East, and North America, combining operational knowledge with commercial insight to tackle long-standing industry problems. Its work has included franchise bid support, freight safety assurance reviews, and strategic planning for new cross-border services.

Mr. Watson concluded that the sector is ripe for change and positioned InnoRail to guide clients through that transformation. “This is an exciting time for the sector, and for InnoRail. There’s a real appetite for change, and our role is to help organisations navigate that change with practical advice, strategic direction, and delivery that makes a difference.”

With a growing team and new partnerships on the horizon, InnoRail is focused on a new chapter of innovation while remaining dedicated to delivering results that benefit both operators and passengers.
