London Liverpool Street remains Britain’s busiest station as rail usage continues to grow

London Liverpool Street has topped the national rankings as Great Britain’s busiest railway station for the third consecutive year, recording 98 million entries and exits between April 2024 and March 2025. At the other end of the scale, Elton and Orston in Nottinghamshire was once again the country’s quietest station, with just 68 recorded entries and exits.

The figures, published by the Office of Rail and Road (ORR), underline the lasting impact of the Elizabeth line, which continues to reshape rail travel in London. Stations served by the route – including Liverpool Street, Paddington, Tottenham Court Road, Farringdon and Stratford – dominate the busiest-station rankings, and six of the ten most-used station-to-station flows were on Elizabeth line services. The busiest of all was Liverpool Street to Tottenham Court Road, with 8.7 million journeys.
