Nomad Digital extends operations and maintenance agreement with Queensland Rail

Nomad Digital, a leading provider of transport connectivity solutions, has secured an extended Operations and Maintenance agreement with Queensland Rail to continue supporting and maintaining a wide range of onboard digital services.

The renewed agreement begins in August 2025 and will run for five years, with the option of a two-year extension and the potential for a further two years beyond that.

Ian Brimer, Operations & Maintenance Director at Nomad Digital, said:
“The team at Nomad Digital are proud to be continuing our longstanding partnership with Queensland Rail to support their package of connectivity solutions onboard their fleets. The new Operations and Maintenance agreement demonstrates our performance and illustrates the confidence Queensland Rail have in our services and solutions that support their passenger experience both now and in the future with a connectivity platform to build upon.”

Nomad Digital has partnered with Queensland Rail for more than a decade, delivering a range of onboard connectivity solutions, including Australia’s first rail passenger WiFi service. Most recently, the company’s Engage Portal has been introduced on the Electric Tilt Trains operating between Brisbane, Bundaberg and Rockhampton.

The Engage Portal, part of Nomad Digital’s Passenger Experience Digital Catalogue, allows passengers to access a wide selection of services through the onboard network using their own smart devices. Features include live maps and a Digital Rights Management system that enables access to licensed entertainment such as films, TV shows and music.

Scott Cornish, Head of Regional at Queensland Rail, said:
“Queensland Rail has introduced this new entertainment system onboard our iconic Tilt Trains which run between Brisbane, Bundaberg and Rockhampton. A wide selection of features including movies, tv shows, music, live maps of the journey and safety information are now available to our valued customers straight from their own smart devices. It means they can pop headphones in, utilise charging facilities from their seats, sit back, relax and enjoy the journey.”

The extended agreement reinforces Nomad Digital’s position as a trusted global partner in delivering advanced digital solutions for rail operators.
