DB ESG has secured a contract from Northern Trains Ltd. to deliver turnkey materials supply and installation services for passenger information system (PIS) and energy metering (EM) upgrades on their 16-strong fleet of Class 333 electric multiple units.

The project will see DB ESG manage the installation process at Northern Trains’ Skipton Sidings Facility, with a focus on rapid deployment. DB ESG’s streamlined approach aims to complete each unit within just three days, demonstrating the company’s proficiency in delivering complex turnkey projects for various rail industry clients.

“Our team is thrilled to partner with Northern Trains on this significant project,” said Nick Goodhand, Managing Director of DB ESG. “We are committed to delivering high-quality installations efficiently and safely, leveraging our expertise to enhance the passenger experience and operational efficiency of Northern Trains’ Class 333 fleet.”

DB ESG’s team of experts will prioritise customer service and satisfaction throughout the project. The installation will be overseen by the company’s Projects Services Team, utilising DB ESG employees and supported by contract personnel as required. The work will be executed with a strong emphasis on ensuring the necessary skills and experience are in place for safe and efficient installation.

DB ESG will procure and supply 15 ready-to-install train equipment kits, with Northern Trains providing the kit for the initial “first-in-class” installation. The project is scheduled to commence in February 2025 and is expected to be completed by the end of June 2025.

This contract win underscores DB ESG’s reputation as a leading provider of rolling stock upgrades, and will see a significant improvement to passenger information and energy efficiency on the Northern Trains Class 333 fleet.
