Rail Safety Week 2025 Announced: Planning Starts Now for Week-Long Safety Focus

Rail Safety Week (RSW) 2025 will take place from 16th to 22nd June, with organisers urging the entire rail industry to get involved.

The annual event aims to raise awareness of safety across the rail network, encompassing employees, passengers, and the wider public. This year, RAIL & Rail Live has been confirmed as the headline sponsor, and the official RSW conference will be held at Porterbrook’s Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre.

“Safety has improved dramatically since the first passenger railway ran 200 years ago, but it’s vital the industry never rests in its efforts to improve safety for passengers and staff alike,” said Dickon Ross, Editor at RAIL Magazine.

Elaine Clark OBE, CEO at Rail Forum and Rail Safety Week Lead, said: “We are thrilled to have RAIL & Rail Live as our Headline Sponsor for this year’s Rail Safety Week; their support enables us to build on the initiative and increase awareness across the industry.

“RSW is for everyone, and we would like to express our sincere thanks to all the organisations who have previously supported and continue to do so, as well as to those who are planning to get involved in 2025 and for years to come.”

Simon Higgens, Chair of the Rail Safety Week Steering Group, said: “Now is a great time to start planning your events and activities; if you’re looking for inspiration, visit the RSW website – there’s no shortage of ideas! Once you are ready to share your plans, please make use of the online form which is designed to make submitting them quick and easy.

A range of resources, including branded materials and templates, are available on the RSW website to assist organisations in planning their participation.
