Schaltbau Selected as Key Supplier for Major UK High-Speed Rail Project

Schaltbau has been named the preferred supplier for a significant new high-speed railway project in the UK. The company will provide essential components, including CT contactors and advanced driver desks known as IntelliDesks, over an extended period.

The high-speed project, which aims to reduce journey times, enhance rail capacity, and promote sustainable travel, will see Schaltbau and its partner SPII assemble and supply components from the company’s UK facility, Schaltbau Machine Electrics in South Wales, with additional support from SPII in Italy.

Helmut Pusch, CEO of Schaltbau GmbH Group, said: “With nearly 100 years of expertise in the industry, Schaltbau has consistently demonstrated excellence and innovation, and we are pleased to be part of this important project. As the world moves towards more sustainable solutions, rail infrastructure will play a vital role in reducing carbon emissions and promoting environmentally friendly travel. We are proud to contribute to this future and we look forward to a successful partnership and the journey ahead.”

The development of new high-speed rail infrastructure across the UK is setting new standards for capacity, efficiency, and environmental performance. As the country invests in next-generation electrified railways, these projects signal a decisive shift away from fossil fuels towards a cleaner, more connected future. Modern electric rail networks not only reduce carbon emissions and support climate goals but also enable faster, more reliable journeys for both passengers and freight.
