Siemens Mobility has released its second annual Social Value Report, confirming a year of substantial investment in UK suppliers alongside far-reaching community, skills and environmental initiatives.
In the 2025 financial year, the company spent £466 million with UK-based suppliers and delivered almost 6,000 volunteering hours. It also employed 264 apprentices, graduates and interns, and engaged 134 schools through its STEM education programme. The report underlines Siemens Mobility’s long-term commitment to supporting Britain’s railways and the communities connected to them.
Rob Morris, Joint CEO for Siemens Mobility UK & Ireland, said:
“Our award-winning approach to creating a positive impact for local communities, the natural environment, our customers, employees, and wider society remains at the heart of our business – not simply as a deliverable, but as a fundamental demonstration of our values and how we strive to transform mobility for everyone.”
The report sets out a broad range of activity across five core themes: education, employment, wellbeing, sustainability and responsible procurement. Highlights include:
Education and skills
Siemens continued its work with Primary Engineer in Goole, giving pupils hands-on experience of engineering and rail technology and helping to build early pathways into STEM careers.
Employment and inclusion
Through its partnership with DFN Project SEARCH, Siemens supported five interns with learning disabilities on a year-long work placement. The programme helped participants build confidence, life skills and greater independence.
Lisa Macdonald, Group Director at the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group, said:
“Siemens Mobility has created an inclusive environment where interns can develop and thrive, enabling them to gain valuable personal and employability skills. This is a true success of the Project SEARCH programme and how it can transform the lives of those with learning disabilities and autism spectrum conditions.”
Community wellbeing
Colleagues volunteered over two days at Riverside Veterans Retreat in the Brecon Beacons, enhancing facilities for veterans living with PTSD, as well as children and local community groups who use the site’s outdoor and wellbeing programmes.
Alongside its social value work, Siemens Mobility continues to invest in the UK’s rail future. A £100 million Rail Technology Centre in Chippenham is currently under construction and due to open in 2026.
