Swietelsky AG expands UK presence with acquisition of Harry Needle Railroad Company

Swietelsky AG, a leading European construction company specializing in rail infrastructure, today announced the acquisition of 100% of the shares in Harry Needle Railroad Company Ltd (HNRC), a prominent provider of rail vehicle maintenance, repair, and rental services in the UK.

Founded in 1998, HNRC operates a state-of-the-art facility in Worksop, employing over 30 skilled professionals. The company generated an operating performance of approximately €9 million in the 2023/2024 financial year.

This acquisition strengthens Swietelsky’s foothold in the UK market, expanding its service offerings to include locomotive repairs, fleet management, and rail vehicle storage.

“This strategic step not only enables us to expand our market position in the area of operate and maintain contracts for Network Rail, but also to significantcantly our capacities for machine overhauls and future innovations such as the conversion of rail vehicles to European train control systems,’ explains Peter Krammer, CEO of Swietelsky AG.
