The Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) has announced the appointment of John Clarke as a Non-Executive Director, effective from 1 April 2025.

Mr Clarke brings a wealth of experience to the RSSB Board, having served as a Non-Executive Chair and Director in the technology and data services sectors. He also holds the position of Crown Representative.

Throughout his career spanning over 30 years as a senior executive, Mr Clarke has operated across a diverse range of industries and complex environments. His expertise encompasses technology leadership, innovation, and the development of new business models.

Mike Brown, Chair of the RSSB Board, welcomed the appointment, stating:

‘I’m delighted that John has joined the Board, bringing his wealth of experience from senior roles within technology and data services. John’s insights, challenge and non-railway specific perspective, will, I have no doubt, help RSSB as we work to support the rail industry.’

Upon commencing his role, Mr Clarke commented:

‘I am delighted to join the Board, at an important moment in the rail industry, to work alongside the other members to support the RSSB in its essential role in enhancing safety standards and making rail travel safer for users.’
