Spencer Group has marked the close of a successful year-long charity partnership by presenting £18,545 to the Lighthouse Construction Charity, following a series of fundraising activities led by employees across the business.
The presentation took place at the company’s Carrington site in Manchester, where representatives from the Lighthouse Charity visited earlier this month as part of its #MakeItVisible campaign, delivering talks and supporting discussions focused on wellbeing in the construction sector.
Each year, Spencer Group employees nominate and vote for an official charity partner. In 2025, the Lighthouse Construction Charity was selected, a national organisation providing emotional, physical and financial support to construction workers and their families.
The partnership has resulted in the company’s highest annual fundraising total to date, driven by a range of employee-led initiatives throughout the year.
Fundraising activities included participation in the Hull 10K, where five employees raised £250, and a Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge in September 2025. A team of 20 employees completed the 24-mile route in 11 hours, raising £2,545 and exceeding their original £2,000 target.
Additional events such as raffles, bake sales, a fantasy football league, themed workplace activities and dress-down days contributed to the overall total. The fundraising effort was further boosted by a £5,000 donation from the Tyseley Depot team, who chose to donate their ‘Project of the Year’ award bonus to the charity.
Leahanne Shillito, Executive Admin Assistant and Charity Champion at Spencer Group, said: “Supporting the Lighthouse Construction Charity over the past year has been incredibly rewarding for everyone at Spencer Group. In an industry where conversations around mental health and wellbeing can be challenging, we are so proud to have partnered with a charity delivering such vital support.
“The dedication and enthusiasm from our team, who took part in and supported all of our fundraising events, reflects the values at the heart of Spencer Group.
“We would also like to thank all of our external supporters who generously donated prizes for our Christmas and Easter raffles; these contributions have made a real difference and are greatly appreciated.”
Although the formal partnership has now concluded, Spencer Group has confirmed it will continue to support the Lighthouse Charity through an ongoing sponsorship arrangement. This will include continued access to training programmes and site visits, ensuring employees can benefit from the charity’s services beyond the initial partnership period.
