Midlands Rail Hub: A Call to Businesses in Herefordshire & Worcestershire

Midlands Connect is urging businesses across Herefordshire and Worcestershire to engage with the transformative Midlands Rail Hub project. Collaborating with the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, Midlands Connect is hosting a virtual event to inform local firms, from small enterprises to large corporations, about the scheme and encourage their involvement.

The Midlands Rail Hub is set to significantly enhance rail connectivity for the region. Specifically, the Worcester area is earmarked to receive two additional trains per hour in each direction. This will include one service from Worcester Foregate Street to Birmingham and another from Worcestershire Parkway to Birmingham. These enhancements will equate to nearly 140 extra trains per week across these two routes, delivering approximately 4 million additional seats annually for residents, businesses, and commuters.

Further benefits extend to other key locations:

  • Redditch, Alvechurch, and Barnt Green will each see one extra train per hour in both directions, providing an additional 2.7 million seats for passengers.
  • Bromsgrove is set to gain a substantial 4.7 million new seats.
  • Herefordshire can anticipate faster journey times to Birmingham and improved access to important hubs like Worcester and Malvern.

The free online event will be held via Zoom on 18th June 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00. Businesses interested in learning more and participating can sign up by clicking here.

Andy Clark, Head of Rail at Midlands Connect, expressed his enthusiasm for the outreach: “We’ve held similar sessions in Birmingham to great success so we are delighted to be partnering with the Chamber to talk about the Midlands Rail Hub. My message to firms is that the Rail Hub is a massive transport project and even if you know nothing about the scheme come and sign up and get involved.”

The Midlands Rail Hub project is a collaborative effort, co-sponsored by Midlands Connect, the Department for Transport, and West Midlands Rail Executive. Its successful implementation is anticipated to unlock significant economic and social benefits for the wider Midlands region.
