Rail and Urban Transport Review
Rail and urban transport are the lifeblood of our towns, cities and regions. They stimulate economic activity, support climate goals and facilitate social inclusion. This independent assessment, commissioned by the Labour Party while in opposition, explores how a future government could accelerate the delivery of improved connectivity within and between the UK’s towns and cities to harness these vital benefits and power us into the decades ahead. This assessment has sought to identify recommendations to accelerate and amplify the huge benefits that rail and urban transport infrastructure unlocks. In doing so it has identified practical steps to reform the planning, funding and delivery of rail and urban transport projects. The independent Review was led by Juergen Maier CBE, former Siemens CEO and guided by an Expert Panel from across the industry. Secretariat support was provided by the Urban Transport Group, with expertise and thought leadership support from Arup.
