Rob Morris has been appointed as the new Chair of the Rail Supply Group (RSG), taking up the role on 1 April 2026 at a key point for the UK rail industry.
Morris, who is Joint CEO of Siemens Mobility and Managing Director of Siemens Rail Infrastructure and Software, succeeds James Bain following a four-year tenure. Bain will remain involved as a member of the RSG Council, while Jason Marbeck, Strategy and Development Director at AmcoGiffen, continues as Vice-Chair.
Experienced industry leader
Morris brings decades of experience across rail, energy and construction, with a background spanning signalling, digital rail, automation and electrification projects.
His work has included major programmes for Network Rail, London Underground and Transport for London’s Elizabeth Line, and he has already played an active role within the RSG as a Council member, Innovation Champion for the Digital Railway, and Vice-Chair of the Rail Sector Innovation Charter Steering Group.
Focus on reform and collaboration
His appointment comes as the industry continues its transition towards Great British Railways, with a renewed focus on integration, performance and long-term sustainability.
Rob Morris said:
“I am delighted to be asked to take on the role of Chair for the Rail Supply Group at a time when rail reform presents a window of opportunity for the whole industry to come together and delivers the outcomes we need for passengers, freight, government, and industry. The Rail Supply Group’s unique role as an impartial body working in the interests of the whole sector means we can take these challenges head-on by positioning the rail industry for growth, improving performance, and achieving a sustainable net zero railway. As Great British Railways takes shape, we will work to ensure reform and wider industry change deliver lasting success. I would also like to thank James Bain for his leadership over the past four years and am pleased he will continue to contribute as a member of the RSG Council”.
Jason Marbeck added:
“It has been a pleasure to work with James as Vice-Chair, and I am very much looking forward to continuing to work with Rob in his role as the new RSG Chair to help deliver better outcomes for rail customers and the industry”.
