UKTram appoints new leadership for Light Rail Operations Committee

UKTram has announced a new leadership team for its Light Rail Operations Committee (LROC), following the decision by outgoing Chair Steve Mabey to step down after several years in the role.

Graham Fitzgerald, LUAS Duty Operations and Control Room Manager at Transdev Ireland, has been appointed Chair after previously serving as Vice Chair since 2023 and being an active member of the committee since 2019.

In his current role on Dublin’s LUAS network, Fitzgerald oversees operational delivery, including incident management, safety-critical communications, customer service and control room operations.

Commenting on his appointment, Fitzgerald said: “I am absolutely delighted to be announced as the new Chairperson of the UKTram Light Rail Operations Committee. I am very proud and honoured that this has been made official.”

He also paid tribute to outgoing Chair Steve Mabey for his leadership and support over recent years.

Joining him as Vice Chair is Trevor Stocker, Head of Service Delivery at Supertram in Sheffield. Stocker brings more than two decades of operational and safety leadership experience across transport operations and resource planning.

Reflecting on the appointment, Stocker highlighted the collaborative nature of the committee and its role in supporting operational improvement across the light rail sector.

The Light Rail Operations Committee provides a forum for tram and light rail operators across the UK and Ireland to share operational experience, best practice and lessons learned, supporting continuous improvement across the sector.
