The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport UK (CILT(UK)) has announced the results of its recent Board Elections, confirming the appointment of Dr Sarah Shaw, Richard Atkinson, and Dr Hajar Fatorachian to key leadership roles.
These newly elected board members are set to play a crucial role in shaping the institute’s agenda while also serving as ambassadors, representing members at every level. Each brings a wealth of experience and expertise from various facets of the logistics and transport sector.
Dr Sarah Shaw is the Director of The Logistics Institute for Hull University and a Reader in Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the Hull University Business School. She leads various multi-disciplinary research projects and has published extensively in scientific journals.
Sarah explained: “I am delighted to be re-elected as board member at such a pivotal moment for the institute and sector. We must not take anything for granted, everything is possible! I look forward to working with my Board colleagues to transform, inspire and deliver value for our members.”
Dr Hajar Fatorachian is an experienced academic with extensive teaching and research experience. She also boasts industrial expertise in operations and supply chain management, where she was responsible for managing overall operations and logistics planning. Dr Fatorachian has held several management and leadership roles throughout her career.
Dr Hajar said: “I am honoured to be elected to the Board of CILT(UK) and to contribute to shaping the future of logistics and transport during such a transformative time for the profession. I look forward to working with fellow Board members to champion innovation, sustainability, and professional development across the sector.”
Richard Atkinson is a Teaching Fellow at Aston University, where he focuses on leadership, strategy, governance, engagement, and organisational culture. He primarily advises business leaders and executives in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Engineering companies.
Richard added: “Thank you to members for putting your faith in me. As a Board member, I will work collaboratively to reinforce good governance within our professional membership organisation. This will help drive down costs; drive up value, and boost members’ influence and success.”
Eight individuals stood in the recent election, and the successful candidates have been elected for a four-year term.
